About the Hungarian Government Scholarship

The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program was launched in 2013 by the government with the aim of offering foreign students the opportunity to continue their higher education in Hungary. The scholarship program is administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and coordinated by the Tempus Public Foundation. The scholarship covers the following:

1. Full tuition fees.
2. The monthly salary varies by program as follows:
   • Bachelor’s, Master’s and non-degree programs: a monthly amount of HUF 43,700 (equivalent to EUR 120) to contribute towards living expenses in Hungary, per month during the duration of the study.
   • Doctoral students: According to the Hungarian legislation in force, a monthly amount of 140,000 HUF (equivalent to 390 EUR) is awarded during the first cycle of studies (4 semesters) and 180,000 HUF (equivalent to 500 EUR) for the second cycle (4 semesters))) in a monthly form throughout the study period.
3. Contribution to housing costs by providing free housing or by providing a financial contribution of 40,000 Ft / month to cover housing costs during the duration of the scholarship.
4. Medical insurance up to HUF 65,000 (approx. EUR 180) for 12 months is offered per person.
